Community Vigil for Groundworks Sun. April 16 2pm

The Town of Brattleboro is hosting a Community Healing Vigil this Sunday, April 16, at 2pm on the Brattleboro Common to honor the life of Leah Rosin-Pritchard whose life was violently taken on Monday April 3 at the Morningside Shelter.

Becca Balint will provide a vision of safety, healing and possibility for the town as we move forward.

Kheya Ganguly, Director of Trauma Prevention and Resilience Development at State of Vermont and Jenney Samuelson, Secretary of the Agency of Human Services will speak in support of Groundworks staff and clients and John Potter, the new Town Manage,r and Ian Goodnow, Chairman of the Selectboard, will offer gratitude to all in the community who have stepped forward to help. Hallowell, the local hospice choir under the direction of Peter Amidon and Mary Cay Brass will provide musical interludes to allow for reflection and solace.

The Centre Church will be open before the vigil, from 12 to 1:30 for silent prayer, meditation and candle-lighting and the rabbi and local Buddhist leaders will invite those moved to walk to the Retreat Meadows to create memorial cairns after the event. This is part of the larger extraordinary effort to support Groundworks and the community affected by this tragedy.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring chairs or blankets if they need them. For more information email Rev Lise Sparrow at lisemsparrow@gmail.com.
