Vernal Pool Walk in Barre Town Forest
April 20, 2023, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Vernal pools are small but mighty ecosystems. Their tiny size and fleeting nature belies their outsized contribution to the ecological health of our forests. These temporary wetlands host diverse insects, clams, shrimp, frogs, salamanders, and plants, and provide critical breeding habitat for many amphibian species and food for forest birds and mammals.
Join us to visit some of the vernal pools in the Barre Town Forest! We'll explore two state-significant vernal pools and learn about the critters that depend on these pools.
