Join the Vermont Land Trust and friends during school break week for a kid-centered hike to a vernal pool—a small, seasonal forest wetland that is essential for the reproduction of several of our native frog and salamander species. We'll look for signs of amphibian life along the way.
The event takes place at Delaney Woods, which was conserved through a partnership between the Vermont Land Trust and the Town of Wells in 2012. The property is home to diverse forest types and wildlife habitats that are open to the public for recreation and exploration.
This event is perfect for adventurous kids aged 5-12 and their families, but all are welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for hiking on uneven ground, through water and mud! Bring lunch if you'd like to picnic nearby after the hike, at Lakeside Park. The rain date for this event is April 20.
