"Whispers from the Past"
Yom Hashoah / Holocaust Remembrance Concert
Saturday, April 15th 7pm
"Whispers from the Past" is a concert that interweaves music composed during the Holocaust with ancestral Jewish melodies- a program that transcends a time of sorrow with the human desire for hope. Performing is Temple Trio, a string trio consisting of violin, viola and cello.
This concert, and others across Vermont, will take place leading up to Yom Hashoah, or Day of Remembrance (April 17/18) to commemorate victims of the Holocaust. Besides music of composers who perished in the camps such as Viktor Ullmann, Gideon Klein and Hans Krasa, there will be music of two composers who lived through the Holocaust, as well as some Yiddish songs.
Temple Trio are players of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra (Laura Markowitz, violin; Ana Ruesink, viola; and John Dunlop, cello). Berta Frank will host the event.
Free. The concert series is made possible by the sponsorship of the Vermont Jewish Congregations and Organizations, including Havurah: the Addison County Jewish Congregation.
There is so much to continue to learn about the human experience during times of great anguish. We will explore how the light of hope and the power of music combine to uplift the spirit even in the darkest of times.
PARKING - Onsite parking is limited. If possible, please park behind or on the side of the Methodist Church or in parking spaces on N. Pleasant St. and walk a block to Havurah House.
