Lanzer's Fruit Farm at 273 Porter Brook Road, East Hardwick is inviting everyone to PYO Black Currants.
10am-4pm or until the currants are gone!
After 3 years in the making we are opening the doors to the public and have some 2500 Black Currant plants ready for picking and a nursery full of currant plants that can be potted up at your request.
We have 45 different varieties of Black Currant, though not all of them are yet producing fruit. Varieties included are some hard to come by European cultivars, two varieties left to the world by the late Lewis Hill and two brand new varieties from The James Hutton Institute in Scotland / University of Minnesota of which we are the sole licensed propagator in North America.
For those of you who are new to Black Currants, we have some recipes you might like to try but you can use them just about anywhere you would use either a blue berry or a cranberry. You can also check out http://www.blackcurrantfoundation.co.uk for recipes, nutrition & health and FAQ's.
All varieties are Non-GMO and grown in a way that is Organic. We just can say were Organic, yet. Maybe next year.
