Our Community, Our Students, Our Future: Creating Opportunities and Reducing Barriers for ALL Students
Please save the date for a community conversation to help the Maple Run Unified School District to be more successful for all students. This past fall, the district held listening sessions.* We found five priorities for change, and now we need your help shaping the objectives for each. The priorities are:
● Rigorous academics
● Community education about injustice and inclusion
● Bias and discipline policies
● Support services for students and families
● Family and community engagement
On Saturday, April 15th, starting at 9:00 am and lasting to 2:30 pm, we will be hosting an all-day work session to learn more about what's important to students and community members, and to brainstorm possible next steps the MRUSD board and Leadership Team can take to create a plan of action for the next five years.
It is important to us that everyone who is interested is able to participate! Lunch, ASL interpretation and childcare will be provided.
If you are in need of childcare, it is important that you RSVP by April 7th so we have enough staff.
If you plan to join us, please RSVP by contacting Erin Rocheleau 802-370-3937 so we can plan to have the correct amount of food and childcare. Food or disability accommodations can also be requested when RSVPing.
*During the listening sessions we talked to 150 people including 60 community members and 90 students. We wanted to learn more about what is going well in the community and the school district. We wanted to better understand the challenges people are facing, and to hear people's hopes for the young people that live and go to school here.
