Watershed Groups Present the Film
Salmon of the Clyde River

The Salmon of the Clyde River is a documentary film about Lake Memphremagog's 33.5-mile tributary produced by Ian Sweet for PBS with financial and production support from VT Fish & Wildlife and Trout Unlimited. The Landlocked Salmon fishery in the Clyde River and Lake Memphremagog was once renowned for the size and quantity of fish that ascended the river twice each year. Anglers from around the world flocked to Newport each spring and fall for a chance at catching one of the prized fish. This film explores the history of this great fishery and the river's challenges and plans to invigorate the Clyde Salmon run. Viewing of the film will be free to the public.

The film will be shown at 6 pm as part of the debut of MWA's new series of happenings entitled "Watershed News and Brews". This first happening will be held at Kingdom Brewing on Friday, April 21, 2023, between 5-8 pm. Future Watershed News and Brews will be held throughout the year. The evening will include time to mingle to learn how our local watershed partners and conservation organizations are protecting and restoring our watersheds. Come and experience the interactive, river simulation table, learn about riparian borders, buffer zones and how to be an even better water steward while supporting our local sustainable brewery. Beverages and wood-fired pizza will be available for purchase.

Sponsors of this evening are Memphremagog Watershed Association, Missisquoi River Basin Association, NorthWoods Stewardship Center, and Orleans County Conservation District.

The public is welcome to come and enjoy this fun and educational evening. Further information is available at mwavt.org or by emailing or calling memphremagogwatershed@gmail.com /802-487-0160.
