SEATED MOVEMENT CLASS for SENIORS and those with PARKINSON'S!
WHERE: All Purpose Room @ Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Route 15, Jericho
WHEN: Weekly classes will be held on Tuesdays starting April 11th, 2023, from 11-noon
CLASSES: The first 30 minutes are designed to deliver a fun, musically driven, interactive, full-body workout that uplifts people through dance and fitness moves. The last 30 minutes of class is also set to music and is designed to stretch and elongate the entire body.
This Program is perfect for seniors, those with Developmental Disabilities, Parkinson's, Physical Disabilities, Injuries and Rehab, Wheelchair Users, Amputees, and Spinal Cord Injuries.
INTENTION OF THE CLASS
This class is to help you improve your health through movement. Everyone NEEDS MOVEMENT to stay healthy and active. We especially need it as we grow older.
BENEFITS OF MEETING IN-PERSON
Committing to an in-person program with others can keep us practicing movement more regularly, helping us make friends and enjoying ourselves in the process! This class is set up to be beneficial to our health, fun for our bodies, and enjoyable for our hearts and minds.
HOW DOES SEATED MOVEMENT WORK?
While seated in a sturdy chair, the instructor leads you in a series of movements choreographed to music. You will boost and elongate your muscles as you move your arms, legs, and torso in dance and stretching movements. We will also use hats and shakers. Those in wheelchairs are welcome and can stay seated in their chairs.
THE INSTRUCTOR
Heather Clifford has studied specifically to run such a program through her studies as an independent Certified Revelation Wellness Group Fitness instructor, Senior Fitness Instructor, and Chair One Fitness instructor. She is certified in First Aid/CPR and AED.
THE FIRST CLASS IS FREE!!
Participants can choose to attend for 1 hour or 30 minutes per session.
You choose:
$7 per 1 hour class or $25 per month
$5 per 1/2 hour class or $17 per month

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The location at Good Shepherd Church, Route 15 in Jericho, has two entrances. One is accessed by parking at the rear of the church which will put you directly in front of the rear entrance. This brings you directly to the room where the class is held, without stairs.
The front parking lot and entrance have stairs and a ramp.
