Due to forecasted low water levels the New Haven Whitewater Race has been postponed to Saturday April 15th from 10am to 3pm.
After a 3 year hiatus, the New Haven Race is back, now being held this Saturday April 15th from 10am - 3pm on the New Haven River just north of town ~½ mile up Lincoln Hill Road. Come watch as whitewater kayakers navigate the rapids and drop over Bartlett Falls to determine the 2023 champion of the New Haven.
This year's race course is set for a short sprint from The Ledges (aka Circle Current) down and over Bartlett Falls in timed laps. Racers will be running the course between 10 am and 3 pm, with a short break in between heats.
Spectators are invited to attend, but are reminded to use good judgement around the road and river. The river bank can be icy, steep and slippery, especially around the falls.
All vehicles must be parked off the traveled portion of the road. There are several pull-offs between route 116 and Eagle Park that are best for parking. Portable toilets will be available at the lowest pull-off just above the intersection with Briggs Hill Road.
On a related note, we would like to acknowledge that during this time on Saturday there will be increased activity along the road due to the event. All participants have been informed of the parking restrictions and organizers will do their best to keep the roadway clear and the impact to local traffic to a minimum. With that said we do ask folks travelling by to use extra caution.
We are excited for the return of this fun event, and hope to see you there.
