The Youth Opera Company of Vermont (YOC) announces its spring production, An American in Paris, a collection of opera scenes and songs woven together to tell the story of an American student studying abroad in Paris. The repertoire includes selections from opera, operetta and musicals, including Lakmé, Carmen, Tales of Hoffman, Candide, Orfée et Eurydice and Kismet, as well as songs by Debussy, Ned Rorem, Cole Porter and Louiguy, led from the piano by YOC Music Director, Mary Jane Austin. The seven talented singers in the cast hail from Stowe High School, Rice Memorial High School, Burlington High School, Middlebury High School and Christ the King School. YOC founder, soprano Sarah Cullins, stage directs and narrates.
