CVUUS and the College Community Chorus present music from Ukraine in this special performance to remember and honor the people of Ukraine. Guest artists Teryn Kuzma and Stephan Zaets playing music of the Ukrainian diaspora on the bandura, the national instrument of Ukraine. The Chorus, conducted by Jeffrey Buettner, presents the world premier a new work for choir, soloists, and piano by the Ukrainian composer Dmytro Malyi (b. 1987), composed as Russian forces invaded his country while he continued to teach and write music in Kherson. College alumni Elearnor Mayerfeld, soprano, and Tevan Goldberg, baritone, return to Middlebury to participate in this premiere, accompanied by Ronnie Romano. Diana Herasim, Ukrainian high school exchange student attending Middlebury Union High School, will also offer her thoughts and insights as the war continues into its second year.
