At the April 11 Lincoln School District Annual Meeting, we will vote to elect three School Board Directors. Two of the positions, a one and a two-year term, have incumbent candidates seeking re-election. The third is for the remaining year of a two-year term position recently vacated. To be elected, individuals must first be nominated from the floor for the position. Voting will then take place from the floor (by voice or Australian ballot, if so moved), based on the number of candidates for each position.
Information about the two incumbent candidates -- Mary Gemignani and Rob Backlund -- can be accessed at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kYqeXotm7uSQprmtkeSeDKvMSUuDRstZ/view?usp=share_link
The third position is an opportunity for another community member to step in and play an important role in the development and future of the Lincoln School /Supervisory District.
Right now, the Board is significantly involved in operational issues in preparation for July 1, when Lincoln takes on full-responsibly as a Supervisory District. This includes weekly meetings and responsibilities in working groups. An ideal candidate would be able to devote 6-10 hours per week to the effort at the outset.
However, as systems are formalized and supervisory district staff put in place to take over operations, the weekly Board meetings will end and the Board's focus and energy will turn toward community engagement, development of a District vision and strategy, financial sustainability, measurements and tools to evaluate progress and success, and the creative pursuit of all of these, and others.
We are seeking someone wholly invested in this ambitious undertaking, wherever it may lead, to ensure Lincoln students receive the invaluable benefits of small, place-based education, that the Lincoln Community School remains the vital asset it is to our town, and that Lincoln controls how its educational dollars are directed. If this matters to you, your Board participation is vital.
If you are potentially interested in serving on the Board, have specific questions/concerns, and/or would like to speak with an individual Board Member, you can respond directly to this post or reach out to us at lincolnvtschoolboard@gmail.com.
Thank you! the Lincoln School District Board
