In 1968 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. along with other revolutionaries founded the Poor People's Campaign with the intent of addressing/ending poverty, the war economy, militarism and injustice. Fifty five years on, we are still fighting for so many of the same causes, for collective liberation and an end to ecological devastation.
On Tuesday April 4th, noon-1pm, the VT Chapter of the Poor People's Campaign will be holding a Moral Assembly, on the statehouse lawn in Montpelier, followed by a community meal, 1-2 pm, at the Christ Episcopal Church. We will be lifting up the voices and lives of those most affected by the ending of so many important pandemic relief measures. All concerned individuals are encouraged to attend along with members of the Vermont House and Senate.
