Folsom middle school students will present their science research at the 7th annual Science Fair on Wednesday, March 29, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Folsom School.
Students in 5th through 8th grade have been working all trimester on testing their own questions, and they are excited to share their work with the community.
The research projects range from studying gas laws to osmosis to animal behavior to how energy is created and harnessed, and even aerodynamics. Students develop their own testable questions and hypotheses, then design an experiment to collect data for the answer.
Students have been learning the scientific method and applying their informational writing skills in language arts by researching and writing reports on the science related to their experiments.
They learned how important it is to evaluate sources of information, including the credibility of the author and the date, when studying a field like science that is changing rapidly.
The science fair exhibits will be set up in the gymnasium, and students will be prepared to present their findings to the community.
