Ecstatic Dance in Putney - Once More This Thurs @ 7pm

Past event
Mar 30, 2023, 6:50 to 8:30 PM

Hello, neighbors!

I'm inviting you for one more Thursdays' DanceTribe ecstatic dance, before I go away for 4 months.

For those of you unfamiliar - we dance in any way we want, there is no structure, no "musts" or have-to's, we move our bodies, or do not move them, as we feel. As long as it is safe for you and others - you can stretch, dance, walk, meditate, hum or tone or sing along, and take breaks as needed. This is the space to let our bodies take over our minds in a way, so that inner chatter stops and we just move. Sometimes I say: it is as if you are dancing alone at home, only here you are surrounded by others doing the same. Also, calling it 'dance' is a little deceiving - it is a blend of movement and stillness, really. No staring, no judgments. Also, no really dressing up - we are here for ourselves, not to impress others, so wear comfy clothes and perhaps in layers, as people tend to get hot and often want to shed some skins :)

The music begins at 7pm and goes until about 8.15pm, and I encourage you to be there for that if you can - we will hold an opening circle and greet spring as well. The music is specially chosen - it starts slow, then picks up into more familiar dance rhythms, then slows down into stillness again. It follows 5rhythms style, if you are familiar with that.

All ages are welcome! If you bring children - we ask you to ensure they are safe and are not moving around too fast to infringe on safety of others.

No prior experience necessary!

We hold 3 agreements here:
~ avoid conversation on the dance floor - invite someone outside the room to speak to them;
~ no recording of any kind - this is to create safe space for all of us;
~ if you want to dance with someone - you make sure you receive their clear enthusiastic "Yes"; and allow them to 'dance away' at any time without you feeling rejection. You are encouraged to also dance away if you feel that desire arise sooner than the song is over. This way we respect each other and the space.

Suggested donation $10 at the door as cash/Venmo/PayPal.

Reach out if you have any questions.
Warmly,
Aliona
