On Sunday, April 16 the Craftsbury Public Library will host a slideshow on the Gardens of the Azores. Susan O'Connell and Tule Fogg visited the Azores in late winter and took in the sites from urban botanical gardens to garden hot springs. If the whites and browns of Vermont's emerging spring have left you feeling color starved, the slideshow, featuring photos by Susan and drawings by Tule, will offer up a vibrant garden feast for your eyes.
The Azores are a collection of nine volcanic islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean that are part of Portugal. Influenced by the Gulf Stream, the Azores enjoy a mild climate year round. Susan and Tule visited Sao Miguel, the largest of the Azores Islands and will share a glimpse of the many interesting geologic and garden sites throughout the island.
The event will take place at the Craftsbury Public Library at 7pm on April 16. For more information, contact the library at 802-586-9683 or director@craftsburypubliclibrary.org.
