We will begin our meeting at 5:30pm and have five key items on our agenda:
• EXPECTED EXECUTIVE SESSIONS ON CAMPING IN PARKS and MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM. The Council voted to refer a draft ordinance on camping in parks in 2021. The Council will be getting an update and discussing next steps. There was an RFP on Memorial Auditorium in late 2022; the Council will be getting an update.
• TWO PROCLAMATIONS – We will be honoring the BHS GIRLS NORDIC SKI TEAM on their third year of winning the Division 1 Vermont High School Nordic championships, officially acknowledging the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of this extraordinary team. Additionally, we will be honoring FAIR HOUSING MONTH, which begins April 1, urge all individuals, agencies, and institutions – public and private – to contribute to the observance by continuing our efforts to eliminate housing discrimination in our communities and increase housing opportunities for all.
• PUBLIC HEARING AND VOTE ON AMENDMENT TO INCLUSIONARY ZONING ORDINANCE – Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) is the primary mechanism for securing newly built affordable housing in Burlington. This proposed amendment seeks to provide greater flexibility in the ordinance without changing the overall intent.
• COUNCIL RULES – At our Council retreat, there was universal support to revisiting aspects of our Rules and working to amend them. After work by an Ad Hoc committee and a review by the Charter Change Committee, we will be voting to accept and adopt these revisions.
• REPORT ON THE CNA RECOMMENDATIONS – After an extensive three month review of the 150 recommendations in the CNA report by the Public Safety Committee in 2022, this report is a prioritization of the recommendations as well as a review of the most important aspects of the Report. There is an accompanying timeline matrix that will serve as a working document to ensure ongoing progress and accountability.
