Montpelier Rotary will be putting on a Casino Night for its spring Fun Raiser on Saturday, April 8 7-10 at the Capitol Plaza. Alpine Entertainment will be setting up blackjack, poker, craps, and roulette. A $100 ticket admits two and yields 250 chips, plus hot hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Additional chips can be purchased during the event. A fun raffle for people with chips remaining will culminate the night.

Proceeds will benefit Rotary's Project Fund. For six years now, Montpelier Rotary has funded a weekly Food/Backpack Program for UES. Calais Elementary has joined this year too. The number of children receiving the weekend bag of food has doubled this year. The Project Fund also purchases 300-400 coats for the annual fall Kitzmiller/Rotary Coat Drive. These extra coats are distributed to select populations in need, particularly children. And this year the local Rotary Club has tried to provide opportunities for coordination and communication among the disparate parties working with the local homeless populations.

This is the 100th year for the local Rotary Club. In the past twenty years it has given out over 1 million dollars in college scholarships from designated, reserved trust funds. The Project Fund is separate and needs your help.
