The Springfield Inclusion Committee will be hosting a community discussion about the housing situation on Friday, April 21st, from 5-7pm, at BRIC (the Black River Innovation Campus, in the old Park Street School building). Fill out the Google Form below to register!
Why:
Recently, the Inclusion Committee recognized that many challenges to inclusivity trace back to issues with housing such as accessibility, affordability, existence of options and more.
How:
We are hoping to gather a wide group of folks from all walks of life to put our heads together! We will use an Open Space format for this workshop. Open Space is a practice for gathering discussion topics and facilitating conversation that allows room for many voices to contribute to agendas, have good conversations, and figure out next steps. Committee members Walter Martone, Charis Boke, and Dan Bannan will be co-facilitating this process.
Who:
Do you have interest in big sticky problems like housing insecurity? Maybe you or someone you care about has experienced housing insecurity? Are you interested in listening to your fellow Springfielders and seeing what we can do together? Do you have energy to try to make our community more welcoming and housing secure? Maybe you have ideas or resources to share! Any and all of these, and more, are reasons you should consider coming.
Possible topics to be addressed include but are not limited to the following:
● Housing affordability
● Housing insecurity
● Transitional housing
● Homelessness
● Workforce housing
● Low income housing
● Valley Street town development plan
● Warming shelters
We will meet at BRIC in the old Park Street School, from 5-7 or so on April 21st. Light refreshments will be available.
If you're interested, sign up using this Google Form and come on down. Registration is encouraged but not required to come (we like to know how many folks will be there!). Copy/paste the link into your web browser's URL address bar.
