On Saturday, March 25, the South Royalton Vermont FamilySearch Center will host its second annual Family History Fair at 113 LDS Lane in South Royalton from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Located off Dairy Hill Road.
This year's Fair will once again help participants learn more about how to research their family tree, what free resources and tools are available at the FamilySearch Center, and how they can find out how to overcome roadblocks in their research.
This year's presenters include:
• Vermont State Archives and Records Administration (VSARA) will showcase the vast genealogical information available to researchers.
• Vermont Old Cemeteries Association will help provide tips on researching cemeteries .
• Janeen Bjork, TV researcher and genealogy teacher, will share how to use DNA testing in genealogical research.
• Polish genealogical researchers will share how to find your Polish ancestors.
• Vermont Genealogical Library will present on finding French Canadian and Irish Ancestors.
• The Tunbridge Historical Society and the Central Vermont
Ancestry will also provide information.
The newly remodeled FamilySearch Center will have family history consultants available throughout the day to help individuals set up free FamilySearch accounts and start own their family trees. FamilySearch is the world's largest online family tree, dedicated to helping people everywhere discover their family heritage, and connect with family members, preserving important family records, and making them freely accessible online. FamilySearch Centers are open to the public and provide guests free personal genealogical research help, and complimentary access to wifi, and subscriptions to family history websites. A free barbecue lunch will be provided from noon-1 p.m. by members of the South Royalton congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
