Two Free Pruning Programs Saturday at UVM Hort Farm

SATURDAY, March 25, 9-1 All About Crabapples
Learn the best pruning techniques and test your skills in our Crabapple Collection with our Crabapple Curator "Coyote" Mark Biercevicz. Bring loppers and any other pruners you may have. There will be Q&A on growing crabapples and apples for yourself and wildlife, and information on heirloom varieties of crabapples. FREE EMG-E

Presenter's Bio: "Coyote" Mark Biercevicz is a retired biologist with extensive field biology experience. He has worked for Federal, State, and Local governments, has spent time with local environmental consulting firms and stints with the UVM Horticultural Research Center and UVM Biology Departments.

SATURDAY, March 25, 2-4 Pruners Workshop
Former FHF board member Tom Shea will focus on the ornamental qualities of pruning shrubs and trees. He will introduce you to tools needed to accomplish the task of shaping and directing the growth of plants in your garden or home orchard. There will be a hands-on demonstration to assess annual pruning needs and strategies for future pruning. FREE EMG-E

Presenter's bio: Tom Shea is a 5th generation Vermonter with an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, He has attended numerous seminars on horticulture at the Arnold Arboretum and garden design at the Harvard School of Landscape Design.
