Not too late to join us around the fire tomorrow (today / Monday) evening... Give me a shout to find out more or just get the location details.
When: Monday, March 20th, 7 - 8:30pm (folks start gathering 20ish minutes beforehand)
Where: Reach out for location details.
What: Menfolk* gathering round fire and singing.
We'll be honoring the Spring Equinox, but also just enjoying being together.
Who's invited: You. And any whom you wish to extend the invitation.
What to bring: Camp chair and an armload of wood if you have it to spare.
This is the fourth gathering of a growing group of menfolk who are getting together to join our voices in song because doing so feels like something that's been missing in our lives. Simple songs, rounds and chants and such. And we'll be honoring the change of season, too.
Why men? I believe singing and singing together, particularly, to be a human birthright we've largely lost. But male-identified folks may have even more often actually been told don't (you dare) sing. So we're turning that dynamic around.
Yet, we're definitely not trying to define "menfolk" narrowly. Anyone drawn by this invite is welcome, absolutely including non-binary/gender queer/trans-masculine folx, seeking this kind of space and connection. If you feel called to come, that's the metric. And please reach out to share your experience if you have questions or don't feel included. I'm ready to learn.
It's been great to have a few who've heard about it through Front Porch Forum come join each time. Hope to keeping meeting and singing with new folks this way.
Happy almost Spring!
