ECFiber has exciting news to share with Randolph, Braintree, and Brookfield.
As has been publicized recently in the media, the state has awarded sizable grants two small business districts in Brookfield and Braintree. In order to reach those districts, a large capacity, state of the art fiber optic trunk will be built next year, allowing connections in a large swathe from Chelsea, across E.Randolph, Randolph Center, and then on to parts of Brookfield and Braintree. Another new trunk will run on Rt. 14 from the Bethel to Rt. 66. This has the potential to be transformative events for our area that is under-served by internet connectivity. ECFiber will be able to lease the fiber and connect subscribers along the route with expense much below the costs of new construction. But, the project is contingent on reaching some modest local fund raising goals by Sept. 30, as set by the Vt.Telecommunications Authority.
The time is now to get our communities organized. Both subscribers and investors from our community are needed to make the most of this opportunity.
Several informal informative events will be scheduled over the next 6 weeks. The format will be small, informal gatherings of interested community members with the Chairman and other officers of ECFiber present to give a brief presentation followed by question and answer. There is no commitment to invest or subscribe, this is for information sharing.
The events scheduled so far:
1) On Monday July 21 , 7 PM, at the Coxon-Goulding home. This is on Penny Brook Rd, just off of Silloway Rd, adjacent to the Beidler farm and VTC campus. Contact Jerry Ward for details or questions (gurche@gmail.com, 728-6521).
2) A similar event at Dan Childs' house in Brookfield this Thursday, July 17. See FPF posting from yesterday for details or contact Dan (sputtydog@hotmail.com).
3) At the Braintree Town Hall (not the meeting house, not the Town Clerk office) July 29 at 7 PM. For more info, contact Jackson Evans (jacksontevans@gmail.com).
In addition, each of the three towns will probably host another similar community forum in August or September. One of these will celebrate the connection of the first ECFiber subscribers in our area---specifically S. Randolph!
Please join us for one of these meetings and help us BRING ON THE LIGHT.
