Fair State Vermont is Becoming Proxy War Staging Area

Over the past few weeks, I have heard in local Front Porch Forums in central Vermont of groups of helicopters training. One post from a person-in-the-know said that 3 states, Maine, NH, and Vermont are coordinating training. My thought is that our sweet golden eagle and songbird skies are filling up with helicopters and jet bombers (F35's). Is this peacetime training or war time training? We are now engaged in a proxy war with nuclear armed Russia. This is NOT A DRILL. I am curious to know what people think about what I see as Vermont becoming an air base and military training platform for the U.S. military. I am concerned that our fair state is changing its complexion from a state of farmers and bread makers to a corporate state of war-makers and dirty fossil energy polluters. I have observed over the past ten years that significant numbers of people of Burlington, South Burlington, and Winooski have publicly decried, and even passed resolutions against, these bombers in their city. I have looked into the manufacture and deployment of this new fleet of F35 bombers (stealth fighters they are lovingly called) and see that not only has the Vermont Air Guard deployed to Europe last year with the first contingent from Burlington Airport, but these jets have been sold to countries like Finland that are on the border with Russia. I don't want to be part of a nuclear war fighting system in my fair and green State. Is this what we Vermonters want?

We will be at a vigil to call attention to this Vermont war-making posture, on Tuesday, March 16, 4pm afternoon rush hour at the Ledyard Bridge between Norwich and Hanover. Come and talk, let's be a Vermont that resists war. All welcome! Sponsored by Upper Valley Affinity Group and Green Mountain Veterans for Peace.
