Vermont Actors' Repertory Theatre will hold auditions for "The Subject Was Roses" by Pulitzer winning playwright Frank Gilroy on Saturday, March 11 th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Auditions will be held at the WestRutland Town Hall Theatre on 35 Marble Street. Audition material will be provided and actors don't need to prepare a monologue.
The play takes place in 1946. WWII has ended, and US Army Corporal Timmy Cleary has just returned to live at the Bronx apartment of his parents, John and Nettie Cleary, after fighting in the infantry since age eighteen. He's ready to begin a new life. His parents, however, are still trapped in the bygone days of early and unresolved marital strife and begin emotionally deteriorating through several drama packed encounters. Now mature, the young Tim Cleary finally understands the family dynamics that has played all throughout his boyhood.
The production is being directed by Andrew Hamling and will be presented at the West Rutland Town Hall Theatre on June 16th-18th and June 23-25th .
