Event
When: Mar 12, 2023, 1:30 to 3 PM
Where: Johnson Public Library, Library Street, Johnson, VT
Join the Conservation Commission at the Johnson Public Library to hear Laura Johnson's talk Landscaping with Pollinators on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 1:30 PM. Laura Johnson is a pollinator support specialist who works with farmers and on managed landscapes for the University of Vermont (UVM) Extension doing applied research and education. She promotes best practices for pollinator health. She has a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from St. Lawrence University and a master's degree in horticulture from New Mexico State University. She is a Certified Crop Advisor and beekeeper and holds a Vermont pesticide applicator license.
Pollinators are essential to the production of many food crops, including apples, blueberries, brambles and many vegetables in Vermont. Although honeybees and several other wild and domesticated pollinators are at risk or in decline, by adopting different agricultural and cultural practices, landowners and farmers can help ensure pollinator health. There will be plenty of time for questions and answer.
This event is part of the Conservation Commission's annul March Gladness series. It is open to the public. Free. Questions, 802 635 7826 or email: conservationcommission@town of johnson.com.
