The Corinth Historical Society's next event is on April 8th at 7PM at the Corinth town hall, when we and the The Junction Dance Festival will partake in the presentation of a short film by Elizabeth Kurylo of The Junction Dance Festival titled "WE REMEMBER". Elizabeth is a Corinth resident who lives in the Pike Hill district of town.
It is a dance film with original choreography, music, and poetry invoking the lives of Corinth's historic mining community. Filmed onsite at Pike Hill with an all-Vermont cast, along with an introduction by the Corinth Historical Society & conversations with the choreographer and community dancers.
As "We Remember" the lives of the miners, their hardships and pleasures in four Pike Hill Mine locations: At foundation remains where we meet the womanly spirits of the past, at the tailings pile as copper-stained creatures struggle to ascend the banks, on the landing on which miners dance to the accompaniment of fiddle and accordion, and at the entrance to the mine where the present and history intertwine.
Donations and potluck desserts or snacks are most welcome.
The event to benefit The Junction Dance Festival and The Corinth Historical Society.
*We Remember was made possible, in part, by a grant by the Vermont Arts Council.*
Join us for this fundraising evening on Saturday, April 8th, 7 pm. Town Hall, Corinth VT.
