Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Restorative Practices But Were Too Afraid To Ask

Restorative practices build healthy school climates by creating space for people to understand one another and develop relationships. When things go wrong, restorative approaches create space to address needs, repair relationships, and heal.
Our schools are in varied places when it comes to using restorative practices; all are using these practices in some form. So it's helpful for parents, caregivers and the broader community to have some understanding around what restorative practices are and how they can be helpful. Given the success we're seeing in the classroom we want to provide an opportunity to explore how they might be useful in the home, community, and workplace.

The intent of this workshop is to build understanding in the community around restorative practices in schools and to explore how participants might use restorative approaches at home, community, or workplace.

In this interactive workshop participants will:
• Identify personal values and related them to restorative approaches.
• Name key points to describe a restorative approach.
• Practice a restorative process as a way to build community and
• Explore restorative communication strategies and where they might be used.
Note: Free childcare will be provided onsite.
