Dear Neighbors,
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. On Monday, the City Council will convene its only meeting for the month of July. In the summer, we take a bit of break from our usual schedule and hold only one meeting in the months of July and August..
We will begin our Council meeting at 7pm in Contois Auditorium with an indoor entertainment permit followed by a presentation by David White, Director of Planning and Zoning, on form-based code.
We will then be voting to approve the appointment of Neale Lunderville to be the interim General Manager of the Burlington Electric Department.
Following this appointment, we will be holding public hearings on several proposed ordinance changes including changes to neighborhood mixed use district expansion, residential parking standards, lot coverage exceptions and animal boarding allowances. All three of these ordinances are on our agenda as a second reading which means that following this public hearing, the Council will be voting to approve these changes.
We have five items on our deliberative agenda. The first item will be to refer to the Ordinance Committee changes to our current ordinance regarding offenses and miscellaneous provisions health center buffer zones. Given the recent Supreme Court decision, we will be needing to make some changes to our ordinance which we passed last year allowing an enforceable buffer zone around reproductive health care facilities.
The second item is a resolution regarding consideration of an ordinance requiring mandatory recycling of construction debris. We will then vote on a resolution authorizing FY15 borrowing by the Burlington School District from the City.
Our fourth item is a discussion on the Gateway Block development and our last deliberative agenda item is an update on Burlington Telecom that may involve an Executive Session.
We will then have council committee reports, comments from councilors and the Mayor.
Please keep in mind that you are welcome to come to a council meeting and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm.
Clickable agenda items can be found on the City's website:

As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please email or give me a call over the weekend or on Monday. I hope you have a great weekend.
All my best,
Karen
