The Monkton Museum & Historical Society is looking forward to seeing familiar and new faces at our annual Town Meeting on Saturday - 3/4/23 at 10:00 am at the Monkton Central School. We will have a display table featuring our early schoolhouses. We will have a membership sign up roster for the 2023-24 year. We always welcome new members and would love to have you join us, as we explore Monkton, Vermont, and all the tendrils of history that unfold from our research. We will also have Monkton History books, with index supplements, and other Monkton literature on sale at the table. Ian, our new MM&HS secretary, will be present at the table. We look forward to meeting with you, especially if you have any stories or photos to share for our oral history projects. We are also accepting any donations and artifacts from Monkton's past for our future museum. Currently, the MM&HS group, who shared the Monkton Ridge Tour at the Strawberry Festival, is working to gather stories about East Monkton. Finally, the MM&HS supports a NO vote on Article 6 in the Town Meeting Warning. We are committed to historic preservation and whatever decision the voters reach about the private selling of our town icon, we promote the maintenance of the historical integrity of this Nationally Historically Registered 1859 building. We appreciate the voice of support from Callie Brynn and hope others in town see the value of maintaining an integral part of our town history as a legacy for the present and future.
