Bethel's town meeting is on Tuesday, March 7th at !0 AM at the Bethel Middle School Campus of the White River Unified District. The meeting will again be preceded from 9 To 10 AM by free coffee and pie. Plan on coming a little early, get checked in, and then get a slice of pie (which used to be a standard Vermont breakfast food) and socialize with your neighbors.
To that end, we are looking for people to donate pies/bring desserts' etc., and to help serve them. Please call Town Clerk Pam Brown at 234 -9722 if you can assist in this area. A big "Thank You" is extended to all the folks who do donate and help make this a sweet tradition at our town meeting.
Attending your Town Meeting is a way to participate in a form of "direct democracy " that is unique to only a very few areas on the planet. It is important to remember that this is your meeting and if you don't understand something, or have any questions, raise your hand and your issue will be addressed by the moderator. If you don't understand something, chances are there are other people who would benefit from the explanation, so don't be shy.
Town meeting typically marks the beginning of the end of winter and usually brings a hint of spring in the air. It is a time to see friends and neighbors, take an active part in the running of our town government, and to just have an enjoyable morning. Please call your neighbors and offer them a ride, or request one for your self.
We look forward to joining all of you who plan on coming out and celebrating our freedom and democracy by actually taking part in it.
