Monday, March 27th, 4-5:30PM: Darn it! Garment Mending Cafe
This group takes place on the last Monday of each month.
Come join us and bring your clothing/fabric repair projects. Bring socks that need darning, buttons to be sewn on, holes to patch, etc. Bring your own supplies (needle, thread, fabric, scissors, etc). if you have them. There may be some to borrow/use here if you don't. Most of us have clothing that is currently unusable due to needing repair, and mending (rather than buying new) is an important way to live more sustainably. According to Ngan Le in The Impact of Fast Fashion on the Environment, "The fashion industry is currently responsible for more annual carbon emissions than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. If the industry maintains its course, an increase of 50% in greenhouse gas emissions is expected within a decade." Come join us in mending clothes, learning skills, and in lessening our carbon footprint. We will have some experienced sewers/menders who can provide some guidance with your repairs!
