Central Vermont pianists Stephen Brown and Michael Sitton present a recital of solo and duet piano music at Christ Episcopal Church, 64 State Street in Montpelier, at 2 PM on Sunday, March 5. Sitton will play solo works of Haydn, Lili Boulanger, Florence Price, and Debussy's second set of Images; Brown performs works of Bach, Beethoven, and the first book of Brahms' virtuosic Paganini variations. Duet works include the Poulenc sonata for piano four-hands and one of Brahms' Hungarian Dances.
Sitton is recently retired to Barre from an academic career, with degrees in piano performance and a lifelong interest in French music. He is on the faculty of the Monteverdi Music School and also works as a composer, primarily in choral music. Brown holds degrees in piano performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and continues to perform alongside his career in government.
There is no admission charge to the recital. Donations will be gratefully accepted as contributions to funding the recent purchase of the piano used in the performance.
