Every fall, landlocked salmon migrate from Lake Champlain and head upstream to spawn in the Winooski River. How do they make it, with three formidable dam headwalls to hinder progress along the way?
Join Vermont Fish and Wildlife's Fisheries Biologist, Lee Simard, online on Monday, February 27 at 1:30 PM and discover how the salmon get an actual lift over the Winooski dam, then hop a ride upstream where they can deposit their eggs. His on-line program is hosted by the Community Senior Center. All are welcome.
Topics covered will include past and current stocking methods, assessments of adult returns to the Winooski River, and work being done to improve salmon conditions in the Winooski River.
