Bring Your Regs Questions to the Feb. 27 Meeting

The Huntington Planning Commission will be meeting on Monday, February 27, and invites interested Huntingtonians to Zoom in with questions about the proposed Land Use Regulations (LUR). The regulations were revised after August 9 when the voters rejected the draft. Since then, the Commission , asked for and received comments, addressed concerns, removing the parts of the regulations that were the most controversial. This was done as there is a sense of urgency to get new regulations in place as the regs are out of date and, in places, don't align with new planning statutes. In other words, the statutes say something and the Huntington regulations say something different, making them hard to administer fairly to property owners.

The Commission presented a revision to the Selectboard, which voted to pass it to an Australian ballot vote.

The Planning Commission will devote time early in its meeting on February 27 to answer questions. There are no plans to have a presentation. The meeting begins aug 7 pm.

The regs ballot will be available for the Town Meeting Day voting, which also includes the usual candidates for local office ballot and the MMUU budget ballot. The Town Meeting financial articles and other business are not on the ballot and will be voted from the floor on March 7.
