Did you know that Wolcott has a unique piece of Black history? That the United Methodist church was actually organized by Vermont's first Methodist Black pastor, the Rev. George S. Brown in 1855 who then supervised the construction of the church building in 1856? That he was also a renowned stone wall builder and may have constructed the stone wall foundation in John Reed's (originally Harvey Taylor's) old barn on Route 15?
Come and learn more about this amazing Black man on Friday, February 24, at 6:30pm at the Wolcott United Methodist Church. Hear a powerpoint presentation on Rev. Brown by Rev. Pat Thompson; then enjoy light refreshments in our newly renovated fellowship hall and see all of the updates and changes we have made.
