Join the Morristown Centennial Library in partnership with the Lamoille Regional Solid Waste Management District in reading "What Your Food Ate" by David Montgomery and Anne Biklé.
"What Your Food Ate" takes us far beyond the well-worn adage that "you are what you eat," marshalling evidence from recent and forgotten science to illustrate how the health of the soil ripples through to that of crops, livestock, and ultimately us. Humanity's hallmark endeavors of agriculture and medicine emerged from our understanding of the natural world—and still depend on it. David R. Montgomery and Anne Biklé eloquently update this fundamental reality and show us why what's good for the land is good for us, too. While many current human activities have a negative impact on our soils, "What Your Food Ate" explores practices that hold the keys to healing sick soil and to untapped potential for improving human health.
A discussion of the book will be held on Tuesday, March 14 at 1:00 and will include information about what is happening in our region to build soil and promote healthy plant growth, through regional composting centers, home composting, and more. Join us!
