Join the VT Department of Health during this National Cancer Prevention Month for a free walk-in vaccine clinic. Available vaccines include influenza, Bivalent COVID booster, Hepatitis A and B, Monkey Pox, and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
Human Papilloma Virus is spread through sexual contact, not just penetrative sex, and can cause several types of cancers and warts - almost 360,000 new cases a year in the USA. Almost all sexually active adults will get HPV at some point in their lives but most infections clear spontaneously. Most of the time the person is unaware that they have the virus because they don't have any symptoms or they are minor. However, some infections do not clear and this is when the risk of cancer is the highest - in these persistent cases. Most cases of HPV occur in the late teens and early twenties. It's never too late to get vaccinated and decrease your cancer risk!
