Judge Pineles has served as a trial judge in VT, as a judicial adviser in Russia, Kazakhstan and Georgia as well as an international criminal judge in Kosovo.

His presentation will include stories and photos from Dean's Vermont and international legal service assignments including his involvement in the international rule of law work and numerous short time assignments in Russia and Kazakhstan. He also served for a year (2008-09) with the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative in the country of Georgia as an adviser to the judiciary.

That assignment was followed by 28 months (2011-13) as an international criminal judge with the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo with cases involving war crimes, organized crime, judicial corruption, narcotics trafficking, human organ trafficking and other serious cases.
