You're invited - Future Sidewalks Local Concerns Meeting - Monday, 7/14, 7pm at the Town Office. With the help of the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission, the Town is working with a transportation consulting firm (Resource Systems Group, RSG) to assess the feasibility of new sidewalks in the following three areas in the village:
1) Mechanicsville Road - along the Village Center plaza frontage
2) Cheese Plant Property - along Stella Road and the Route 116 driveway access
3) Route 116 - south of the Hinesburg Community School, on one or both sides of the road
At the meeting, we will be sharing information about the feasibility study, and we will be taking your feedback – comments, questions, concerns. Perhaps you have a suggestion of how a future sidewalk should be routed. Perhaps you are aware of a site constraint on your property that should be considered. Perhaps you have questions about safe crossing locations.
Want to learn more or provide input, but can’t make the meeting? No problem. Contact me for more information. I’m happy to share your questions, comments, and concerns with the project consultant, and raise them during the meeting on your behalf if you’d like. Feedback after the meeting is also welcome, just give me a heads up sooner rather than later. I anticipate the consultant will complete the feasibility study within 4-6 weeks after the local concerns meeting.
The purpose of this study is to assess options for these future sidewalk connections, and determine their feasibility – alignment, site constraints, and projected cost. Such feasibility studies are generally required in order for the Town to seek State and Federal funding to help pay for sidewalk construction. Such studies also help us determine how to prioritize transportation improvement projects, and how to budget for them.
