Both NAACP Branches are co-hosting an important panel discussion this week that focuses on the voices of families who have lost loved ones to police violence.
We are going to hear from folks like Mike Brown's father and Oscar Grant's uncle - people who know the immense pain and trauma of losing family members to police violence; folks who share their suffering in hopes of building a world free from police violence.
The racial disparities in Vermont's criminal legal system are among the worst in the nation, and Black and Brown Vermonters bear the burden of rampant over policing across our state. It is crucial that we ground the work of reimagining the role of police in our communities by listening to the voices of those who have been most deeply impacted by police misconduct.
Join us as we work to create a more equitable society, examine the ways we criminalize people and communities, and address the root causes of racial injustice. We hope to see you on Thursday at 6pm in Montpelier or via Zoom for this important conversation. Learn more and register at https://www.acluvt.org/en/voices-front-structural-racism-policing
