You are invited to the Winter Update of the Chittenden Asylum Seekers Assistance Network (CASAN) on Tuesday, February 7 from 7:00-8:00pm via Zoom. Please register below to receive the link.
Our grassroots non-profit group of volunteers in Chittenden County and surrounding areas assists local families who are in the legal process of seeking asylum in our country. Asylum seekers, unlike refugees, are not allowed to receive many kinds of government assistance, nor are they are allowed to work until reaching a certain point in the asylum process. And so our group was formed in 2019.
We accompany some families long-term and assist with housing and living expenses, while other families are helped short term but in very important ways. Come to hear amazing stories of these resilient people as they build new lives in safety and enrich our communities. You will learn about our volunteer work with these wonderful people at a vulnerable time in their lives and how you can help. There are many more people who need this kind of assistance and we are hoping to expand the circle of support. Our efforts are much needed and very rewarding.
