You are invited to the Winter Update of the Chittenden Asylum Seekers Assistance Network (CASAN) on Tuesday, February 7 from 7:00-8:00pm via Zoom. Register below to receive the link.
Our grassroots non-profit group of volunteers in Chittenden County assists local families who are in the legal process of seeking asylum in our country. Asylum seekers, unlike refugees, are not allowed to receive many kinds of government assistance, nor are they are allowed to work until reaching a certain point in the asylum process. And so our group was formed in 2019.
Some families are accompanied long-term and assisted with housing and living expenses, while others are helped short term but in very important ways. Come to hear amazing stories of these resilient people as they build new lives in safety, and enrich our communities.
Come to learn about our volunteer work with these wonderful people at a vulnerable time in their lives, and how you can help. There are so many more people who need this kind of assistance, and we need to expand the circle of support. It is much needed, and very rewarding.
