The Vermont AgrAbility Project helps farmers and agricultural workers who have been seriously injured or have chronic health conditions including, but not limited to, arthritis, spinal cord or back injury, amputation, brain injury, paralysis, visual or hearing problems, respiratory ailments and muscular impairments such as cerebral palsy. Qualifying enterprises include, among others, dairies, beef farms, sheep and goat operations, fruit orchards, vegetable farms and vineyards.

On Aug. 20 Vermont AgrAbility will host a field day at Youngs Milky Way Farm operated by Kenny and Kelli Young in Springfield, VT for anyone in agricultural production interested in learning more about its services, including assistive technology solutions, modified farm equipment and other assistance to allow farmers with injury or chronic conditions to return to farming.

Paralyzed from the chest down, Kenny Young continues to farm. Join us to hear how Vermont AgrAbility has helped Kenny and others with a disability, injury, or chronic illness stay active in agriculture. VT AgrAbility specialists will be on-site to answer questions. Tour the Youngs Farm and home to see how Kenny and Kelli have adapted to a disability. Please call or email with questions or comments: Geoff Whitchurch 802.888.4972; vtagrability@uvm.edu. RSVP appreciated.

The Field Day event will include special presentations by:
Sharon Alderman, GetATStuff; Marylynn Caruso, VP Priority Medical, Inc. Kenny Smith, VCIL VT Farmer Veteran Coalition, among others. If you would like to run a booth or have ideas that you would like to see included at this exciting event, please let us know.
