Past event
Jan 19, 2023, 9 to 10:30 AM

Coming up this Thursday morning on Central Vermont Community Radio — the local recreation economy, in general and in the growing niche sport of Nordic skating. It's a look at economic resilience, building physical resilience through activity, and fun.

9:00 - 10:00 am
Residents of Marshfield hope to bring in more recreation revenues to businesses in town, and they're getting together on Friday and Saturday January 27 and 28 to lay their plans. It's an effort to keep more people in the rural community. Rich Baker, one of the project leaders, will share their plans and ideas so far, and opportunities presented by new funding sources.

When cross country skiing or snow shoeing conditions are lousy, it can be an excellent time to skate on local lakes and ponds. Nordic skating is recreational long-distance skating, and it's become increasingly popular in the region. Evan Perkins is a frequently out skating and sends ice reports to hundreds of other skaters.
