The East Montpelier Resilient Roads committee invites residents to a presentation it will be giving on emerald ash borer, its impact on native ash trees in the Northeast and the status of state and local efforts to address the loss of this important tree. This program may be of particular interest to residents on Bliss, Barnes and Murray roads, where roadside ash tree removal is planned for this coming spring. All are welcome, and we will be seeking public input on future programs related to the health and management of roadside trees and goals for long-term enhancement of roadside vegetation for aesthetics, wildlife and water quality protection. Joanne Garton from the VT Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation Community and Urban Forestry Program has been involved in the state's EAB response since its first identification in Orange in 2018 and will be a presenter. If you plan on attending, please send me an email with the number of expected attendees so we can try to get a rough count beforehand.
