Watershed Consulting Associates, LLC is currently working with the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) and Milton municipal officials to conduct a preliminary stormwater assessment for the Allen Brook watershed in Milton (Town). This involves locating areas throughout the Town where treatment projects can be implemented to mitigate stormwater runoff before it drains to Allen Brook.

We invite you to attend a HYBRID meeting with our project team on Thursday, January 12th, 2023, at 6 PM as an opportunity to learn about the potential stormwater treatment projects we have identified in the Allen Brook watershed. We need your feedback on your preferred aesthetics, water quality goals, and more that you would want considered for these stormwater projects opportunities!

This assessment is important because it involves the community in efforts to reduce unmanaged stormwater runoff to Allen Brook and eventually, Malletts Bay. This in turn helps prevent negative stormwater effects including riverbank failure and flooding and the potential reclassification of Allen Brook as an impaired stream. Prevention of impairment is much less burdensome than fixing the issue afterward! At the conclusion of the stormwater assessment (February 2023), a final report will be provided to the Town documenting identified issues and proposed solutions including the development of 5 conceptual designs.
