Silence and Soup for the Soul

Past event
Jan 24, 2023, 5 to 6 PM

The practice of sitting silently is not unique to any religion or culture. It is a custom that helps people feel more relaxed and connected.

You are invited to attend a short (20 minute) period of silence in the sanctuary of the Greensboro United Church of Christ, followed by a simple meal of homemade soup, along with bread from Broadfork Farm, to enjoy with others or take home. Served in Fellowship Hall at no cost.

The silence will be unprogrammed. You can bring your own practice (prayer, meditation) to this time of sharing silence. If you do not commonly have such a practice, some simple options will be available for you to try.

When: Five Tuesdays at 5 PM January 17 through February 14

Silence: 5:00 – 5:20 in the sanctuary
Soup: 5:30 – 6:00 in Fellowship Hall (eat in or take out)
Attendance at either or both events is totally up to you!

If you have a soup recipe you'd like to share or would like to make a soup for one of the evenings, please let Jess know using the email above! If you are gluten-free, feel free to bring your own bread.

Note: Soups are hearty vegetarian (some chicken broth may be used). If you are gluten-free, please bring your own bread.
