"There’s a new Open Mic in Montpelier specifically celebrating acoustic-only soloists, duos, and trios. As a singer, songwriter, and arranger, you can perform your songs in a quiet atmosphere where the audience comes to listen first, where you and a supportive audience will be able to hear all of those beautiful, subtle sounds that you’ve worked so hard to create and practice. Original songs are welcome, as are your creative arrangements of cover tunes. Second and fourth Thursdays of each month at North Branch Café. Signup from 6:00 until 6:30pm the evening of the open mic, with performances from 7:00 until 9:30pm. If you’re too far down the performers list to perform that evening, you will be placed at the top of the list for the following Open Mic. Two songs per act, with an additional song if there’s time at the end. Please note that we don’t yet have a piano, but it’s our goal to eventually have one available. Even if you’re not performing, please join us and enjoy the music!"

For this ongoing Open Mic, I'm on the lookout for a decent-sounding, lightweight electric piano. I'm also searching for a "guest" guitar that out-of-town visitors can play if inspired to hop onstage. Since I'm volunteering to host this, and am paying for everything out-of-pocket, my budget is limited for the guitar and piano. They can be scratched, cracked, and/or scuffed, as long as they play well. I can repair guitars, so my preference would be for a good quality guitar that's damaged. I'll also entertain other instruments like an old banjo, dulcimer, etc. Please contact me if you have anything that fits the bill.
