DUXBURY TOWN GATHERING– PIE AND PARTICIPATION
JANUARY 7TH
On November 16th the voters of Duxbury passed the articles that change our Town from a floor vote town to an Australian ballot town. Australian ballot means that a paper ballot will be presented on March 7th for voters to make their choices instead of attending a meeting and being counted in person.
WE NEED CANDIDATES TO PUT ON THE BALLOT. Please consider getting involved in community affairs and running for one of these offices. If you can't run yourself, talk to your neighbors to find qualified candidates and come out and support them.
Candidates would need to have 13 Duxbury voters sign their petition to be on the ballot and return that with a consent form to the office no later than January 30th. The forms and the complete instructions are on the website DuxburyVermont.org.
People interested in running for office can use the meeting on January 7th to introduce themselves to members of the community and have your petition signed.
We need candidates for:
Moderator – 1 year term
Selectboard – two 1-year terms and one 3-year term
Lister – 3-year term
Budget Committee – 5-year term
Cemetery Commission – 3-year term - remaining 2 years of 3-year term and remaining 1 year of a 3-year term – Three candidates total
1st Constable – 1-year term
Delinquent Tax collector – 1-year term
2nd Constable – 1-year term
HUUSD School Board Members – 3-year term and remaining 2 years of 3-year term.
Come out and see your neighbors and bring your favorite pie to share.
There will be pie and coffee starting at 8:30. The moderated meeting will start at 9:30 to review the town budget, highway plan and other town business. Your input is important to form the ballot that will be voted in March.
